Found them on Facebook Marketplace. Was looking to get my car's bumper repaired. Car had been rear-ended and needed a new bumper skin. Mike King, the owner, requested I pay $290 up front so he could get the bumper and then later pay another $300 or so for the paint and labor. Sent me some pictures of a painted bumper but it turned out to be the wrong year of car. He previously took a photo of my cars VIN on the door which has the car's manufacture year and paint code. He, at first blamed me and said I told him the wrong year. He then owned up to it and said he would get a new bumper and it was his mistake. I was okay with that, but then I got an excuse that the bumper was held up in Texas. Then a month later no return messages anymore. I have this all documented. I read his reviews on Google and saw a bad pattern - takes half the money up front and then customers never hear back - certainly not a good way of doing business. What's amazing here is I specifically seek out smaller businesses in areas in NC where the economy is not doing as well to give them a chance and when I see that they can do good work I will help promote their businesses. I do the same or similar with local high school sports teams - I do what I can to help disadvantaged kids have a better chance at scholarships and going to college so they can have a chance at a better life. Then I met this guy that apparently has no issue with taking people's money and never doing work as promissed. Its obvious and it isn't a one time thing - just look at their reviews and the lack of business they have - search Google for "New Edge Paint Spencer NC" - it's all there. When you do people wrong word will get out. If you do business right it also gets out and the businesses that do that have an overabundance of work. I clearly cannot recommend this business or its owner Mike King. I will also be contacting his local politicians and authorities in Spencer whom he is apparently already having lots of issues with. They need to all be made aware of this as it can easily give the town of Spencer a bad name or negative reputation.
