However 8/21 came and no one had contacted me. I had asked Peter several times who was the driver and was it the same driver he had given me before and he didn't respond. I then started to worry and did more research and found a ton of complaints about this company on TransportReviews.com - many, many people saying they paid their deposit and their vehicle was never picked up, or that the company claimed the driver canceled or they increased the price significantly over what was quoted. It then occurred to me that the driver info "Peter" had texted me could very well have been fake, and there was never a driver at all. It appears to have been a set up to get people to pay the $200 deposit, after which time the company wouldn't bother getting a real driver unless you paid significantly more than the quoted price.
At this point I was panicking because I was leaving the country and I contacted a few other shipping companies to get a quote to see if they would actually pick up my car when I needed them to. Then "Peter Wilson" texted me and said I was in breach of contract. I never told those companies to bid for me I just asked for a quote as a back up in case Premium didn't follow through. But Premium still didn't have a driver and I found out that they had posted my car on the central dispatch only that day that it was supposed to ship, and I had signed the contract on 8/10! I told them they should have secured a driver by now since they had 10 days to look for one and it was getting too late. They didn't do what they promised so I canceled the contract. They then told me I owe them $200 more for cancellation, even after all that time they did absolutely no work, and failed to secure a driver, and failed to ship my vehicle. I sent them an email and cc'd the BBB.
I think there are many people who got scammed by this company and unfortunately I am one of them. I later found out that legitimate companies don't take a deposit until the driver actually shows up to pick up your vehicle! This makes a lot more sense, but I didn't know at the time, I thought I was doing the right thing and reading the fine print. I never intended to cancel with Premium and I wouldn't have, but time was passing by and I had to leave the country by a certain date. They didn't deliver and wouldn't get me a driver promptly after I had paid the deposit and then they want to charge me for canceling a contract that they never performed on? The $200 "processing fee" is in the contract but I didn't think anything of it because I knew as long as they got me a driver I wasn't going to cancel. However, the contract doesn't appear to give customers any recourse if the company fails to perform, at least not without paying more money. This is disingenuous and unethical, and I think the company should be investigated for fraud.
