At the end I was told I'd receive a "free gift" for having taken the survey, if I would pay for S+H. OK, sounds reasonable. I provided my CC number.
Six days later I was charged a $49.95 "membership fee", but I never agreed to any kind of membership. I called and was told the membership would be cancelled. (Still waiting, but this is within the appropriate time limit.)
I was also told that the product would be shipped, I should return it, there was a $25 restocking fee that could not be refunded. I suspect that is the basic scam--the "restocking" or return fee.
The names of organizations involved, and their locations, are very carefully shielded. That in itself tells me this is a scam. Three names I've seen so far are STNACRE, autohddashcam.com, and "Exquisite Watch Co."
FYI. I'm not happy about whatever fees I will be charged, but I suppose this is the tuition for a good learning experience.
