Just wanted a Report. Seemed like a Nice guy but was all a scam from ‪(714) 874-3471‬

Similar experience to others here. Someone texted me and showed interest in my car. Seemed legit at first, number was (913) 374-8336, said his name was Tyler, and asked for My Good Name. Nice guy, right? Insisted on autovinreports, could not be anything else, even when I suggested to purchase Carfax, would not go for it. AVOID, AVOID, AVOID. I nearly entered in my credit card details.

Same guy, same name and same number! He said his name is Tyler! but unfortunately I was "dumb" enough and entered my debit card details on their website Autovinreports.com, and even got the report and shared it with "Tyler"... Again I'm DUMB. But God saved me, in the evening another number reached out to me requesting the a report from a different website vininstantrecord.com so I just shared the one that I had before but he insisted to have it from this new website... At this point I knew I was scammed so I rushed like crazy to my phone submitted a fraud claim to my bank, canceled my card and requested another... be careful people and don't be dumb like me... lesson learned the hard way for me unfortunately!

Add (913) 298-8112 to the list.

KSL Classifieds in Utah. Selling a motorcycle. There's no history on this motorcycle. I gave a free report with no accidents or a salvage title. Insisted on AutoVINReports.com I countered twice. Saw this and told them to go on their way.

I hope other people know to verify. It looks legit enough to suck me in for a moment...

Same thing as everyone else and it just happened tonight word for word, his name was Smith. He called from Wichita, KS. I tried to search the number earlier but nothing came up online. He just kept insisting on the autovinreport.com.
Guess sometimes its good to be super skeptical about everyone. Smith's conviction about about my name aw he gave me his, getting off at 11, scheduling a day off work & even paying me back when he gets the car on Thursday. The number he used was 913-374-8227. I did manage to get an email address as well - [email protected].
I despise scammers, seems the world is full of them. I can't understand why anyone would do this all day, seems pointless. Then again, they may get way more people then I would ever think to buy this stupid report.

Well you can add the phone #209-734-3298 to the Scam list on the bogus AutoVinReports.com site. Usually you can tell a scam artist but their stupid questions or poor English grammar. The red flag for me is that I send a text I finish with my name and reference the car and in this case attached a photo. The reply asking me to go to a site...red flag...asking me for my name...red flag. Quick Google search and I found this site. The 209 mobile number is now officially block on my iPhone. Later scammer.

Two Episodes:

1. I post my car on Autotrader .. and someone started sending me text messages saying he is interested in buy my car, then when can he come and see it, then "Oh I am sorry, my name is Smith".. and then I can visit tomorrow 2 pm after my night shift!... then hey send me the AV report. I was like what is an AV report? Oh, It is "Autovinreport.com". I said okay - I will check.

I am glad that I google and found that it is not a legit website. Now I am asking him why he needs the AV report. Maybe I should report his number to the police, or is it computer AI sending me these messages, no?

2. Women started sending me emails to buy my car, confirming the price. I told her in the response email. She replies price is fine and asked my PayPal account and name right away to transfer the money! ah too easy! Do you not want to look at the vehicle first?" I asked. "No, it's fine" - Guess I was lucky to find a buyer like that, eh! end of the email exchange.

So many Sammers around!

Same thing happened to me for the last couple of days.
Episode 1: exactly the same dialogue and excuses.
Episode 2: ask the guy to e transfer 500 to show good faith before im setting up and sending the PayPal info since he is asking me to remove the ad as he is buying the car for sure. Did not comeback after that. Lol

Haha, just had the same thing happen to me, word for word. I even sent him the link to this post and he stuck with his story... still using the same lines posted here. Sent him a message that I'll post here, haven't heard from him again, feel free to use it yourself!

If you want real purpose in your life, Jesus Christ can give you a reason to wake up every morning and live life to the fullest potential, better than you can ever imagine. You may or may not actually read me responses, but I want to share with you the path the salvation and real life. First, you have to acknowledge that you are a sinner, just as I am. It's not hard to admit if you are honest with yourself. After that, all you have to do is believe in Jesus as your personal Savior and that He died and took your penalty for your sin. He will then work in your life, and you will be changed forever. You may not want to hear this now, but God is working in your life as we speak. You will probably struggle with that, but I will be praying for you.

I am selling my car online in BC Canada and got a text from someone called Charlie. The same thing said he needed to get his boss to give him a day off work to come to see the car, but needed a report from autovinreports.com. I sent a CARFAX but he said it wasn't good enough they needed other info that only autovinreports has. When I found this site I blocked them and never did buy the report. The text came from the Kansas area code.

I also had someone in same area code try to buy sight unseen and pay with PayPal, but I cut them off before it went any further.

I am also in BC selling my car and had the same person contact me yesterday (Sept 13, 2021). Phone number 913-348-0051 (Kansas City). I asked "Charlie" why they were looking at my car when their number was registered in Kansas City and they didn't answer but asked me to get a report from the "autorvinreports .com", which is hilarious because they spelled their own crappy website wrong, but I gave them a carfax report instead. They didn't push their website though, just kept telling me they would contact me again after everything with work was arranged.

I reported the phone number and website to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre today.

Almost exactly the same word for word. Raised a red flag when I said CF

Omg I fell for the scam and sent the report from that website. Now what?! Do they have my debit card info? Should I change my card? What should I do? My bank account charged from Vinchecks $37. I guess the scam is that they got my money.

I'm selling a car in Saskatchewan and exact same wording as you. Good thing I looked up reviews on that website first. I've had so many people try to scam me I don't trust anyone anymore.

Same as everyone else here. They guy Dan 616 383 8430 insisted I buy a report from autovinreports.com. They use the exact same script about having to take a day off work etc.

Offered to pay it back when he buys the van. Exact same claims as the others have reported here.

Mine was very similar to many others listed above. Her name was Sophia, needed the report before she took the day off to come see it, she promised to pay me back once I paid for the report when she came to take a look at the car. I was a little bugged by the request so I did a quick search on "who is responsible for a car report" a poll came back with 74% believed the buyer should be responsible. I found other reputable car reporting agencies for a lower price than was offered through autovinreport, and told her that this is a private sale, that it's not my responsibility to provide, a report, but if she was still interested in a report to go to the alternative site, pay the money ($8.99) and get her own report for much less than the $28.99 at autovinereport. She was super insistant that I use the autovine.com site only. It was at that point that I realized this was a scam.

I like MicroTrends protection. My experience was Sophia. As before, she insisted I go to AutoVinReport. I put the address sans the dot.com and before I even selected, I was presented with a pop-up from MicroTrends that they had blocked the site as a known Scammer.

+2

Its a spam website, as I too got messages to buy the report from auto vin reports website only. Be careful guys

+2

Just like those above- had someone tell me they were interested in my car but needed me to give them a "AV" report on Autovinreports.com... then he says, by the way, my name is Carlos, what's yours. When I went the website, I entered my VIN and payment information but thankfully my credit card company declined the payment and asked if it was fraud- so i quickly started doing research and found this. Now I don't know what to do. Is it too late to retract the information on their website? Glad the payment didn't go through, but did my information?

I also got a text message yesterday. She said her name is Sophia... and would take a day off to see my car only if I provide my car report from https://autovinreports.com -- Once I bought and text the report over... after that there is silence. I text her again in the morning to confirm whether she will come and checkout my car... She said there is a delayed and she don't have a ride to see my car... maybe 1 more week. Then I got a phone call to check if I bought a car report and I was happy with the report. Look like a scammer to me.

Same scammers. See attached photo.

Just had someone text me about this. Seemed like he was into the car, said he would come tomorrow with money (suspicious - he hadn't even seen it and never asked any real questions) and needed to book a day off work and would do so as soon as I gave him a report from autovinreports.com - I offered a vehicle history report and told him he could take it for presafety - he kept insisting on autovinreports.com. He gave me a story about how he had been screwed before - which is why I suggested a presafety or carfax - he insisted on autovinreports.com. I told him maybe he should look into buying a different car - and he still insisted on autovinreports.com. I said thanks for your interest and he re-iterated that he was serious about buying as soon as I send him a report from - you guessed it - autovinreports.com At this point I just stopped answering. I hate scammers

I am selling my car online and "Jacob" text to inquire about my vehicle. He said all of the right things but insisted I buy a report from autovinreports.com. I paid the money and sent the report to him. Once he got the report he went "Silent" on any texts from me to see if he was still interested. Stay away from this website if they are using these types of tactics to build their business.

+8

Just got a message from a Sophia. I am in Toronto and they had a US number and gave a fake address nearby.
How did the report look like, did it have any legit details about your car?

Similar situation, was offered to be paid back when she came to see the car. When I provided the VIN so she could buy it herself I got a litany how it’s my job as a seller.

+7

Same as previous, but name was Olivia, insisted on a report from her site, insisting Carfax was twice what her site would cost. As a warning, they do sound somewhat legit in setting up the visit before asking for the report. Grammar is fine, looks similar to a teenager or voice to text, the giveaway was the request for the report.
