I saw an ad on *** offering a sample size face cream, supposedly from *** *** line (which, now I know it was not), for $4.95. They had an add on of an eye cream, sample size for $4.95. I did not see any terms or conditions, no mention of an autoship program. I received the two items thinking it was done. A month later another box arrived with the same two products. That tipped me off. Did a more thorough check of my credit card statement and saw I was charged approximately $90 twice each month (so about $360 plus the inital $10 I paid for the "sample sizes" so $370 total). I called the company and they said they would cancel my autoship. I pushed back asking to be able to return the second product b/c their ad was misleading and was told that the company did not accept returns (even though the packing slip that came with the product said to keep it in case of a return). I asked if I could talk to someone else, they said yes, ple[censored]d. I was on hold and then was hung up on. I called back again, got hung up on. Called the other 2 numbers on the packing slip and both times was hung up on. I called my credit card company (***), they said they would try and get a refund for me. They also told me this type of scam is super common.

I should have seen the reviews before I fell for the FB scam of a $5.95 sample of Bellaire skin cream. When my bank told me their was a suspicious charge on my card, I found it was from Avant Garde. I called the number my bank gave me and someone named ‘Mark’ told me I owe $89.00. I freaked and he said that little bottle of cream was a trial only for 14 days and I owed the $89.00 for that ‘sample’.......When I looked at my recent calls on my phone, the 888 # I dialed indicated a private landline. I intend to report this company to the BBB, Attorney General’s office and the Fraud Commission.....I have blocked ‘Mark’s’ number on my phone but I, in no uncertain terms, told him I am not paying this. This product sat at my front door for 3 weeks while I was away on vacation. It’s a total scam and I intend to fight this. BTW, by the end of the conversation he said he would settle for $35.00.
