I received an email stating that my resume had been recommended to the company by indeed for their Office Manager role paying around 75K annually and they wanted to set up a quick phone interview. I did the phone interview which was only 5 questions and was told two days later that I had the job. They told me that they were acquiring a new office in downtown Houston and I would start in 3 weeks. They told me that they needed to get supplies for the office and needed me to buy the supplies, so they would send me a check. I started researching the company because there were many red flags. The website provided little information, and hey barely had any of my information but was willing to send me a check, then I found out the address and phone number on their website was fake. So needless to say I did not accept any check from them and called them out on their scam. They were going to send me a check for more than they originally told me it would be and act like it was an accounting error. Then ask me to send them the difference and when the check they sent didn’t clear I would have been out of money. Please don’t fall for this scam.
