This company has been trying to charge my credit card every year for service. They have been advised several times to cancel what ever account they have. They continue to make excuses.

- Scottville, MI, USA

several phone numbers were used: 808-731-0552; 808-745-1099; 808-556-6298

found the number on Google website for Avast customer support

they wanted remote access to my computer

- Redding, CA, USA

I received an email from this company with an attached invoice in a PDF form. The invoice is for $399.99 for a two year renewal of antivirus and anti-malware software for my computer. It said payment status confirmed, payment mode direct debit, delivery status renewed, term two years. So I called the phone number at the bottom of the invoice to make sure there was no charge or cancel this payment. The gentleman who answered tried to offer me a one-year service for less money but I said no. So he said in order to cancel the transaction he would need to do a live transaction form and wanted me to go to www.support.me. I told him OK, but went and googled the company and the website and it said that if I gave permission they could access all information on my computer. So I told him I did not want to give him permission and he said “so you want to go ahead and pay for the renewal?” I said no and told him no other company has ever needed to access my computer. He said according to the Better Business Bureau that’s the only way their company can credit me back the money. I told him it sounded fishy so I was going to call my bank and stop payment through them instead. They hung up. So I called my bank to make sure there were no charges from this company, and there were none and none pending.

I just bought a new computer on 11/7 and when I went on it for the first time, I opened something, not sure what and a Trojan Virus warning came up. It had a "supposedly" Microsoft phone number to call for assistance. We did and they informed us that we had been hacked. Asked us to purchase ogram to have them monitor. My daughter went online and checked them out and they seemed legitimate. They then asked for payment of $499.19 for the service. They kept calling wanting me to get a gift card and they stated that someone would come to our home and pick it up in order to catch the hackers. I told them no. I then called Staples, where I purchased the computer and they said bring it in NOW. Then I cancelled credit cards, changed passwords. Staples stated that they had 6 other people hacked like this. I am 75 years old and this really was an experience that I never want again or to have someone else have it. I have contacted Wells Fargo and they are investigating the charge.

I wanted to report something that happened on my computer. I had several pop ups on my computer. Offer antivirus protection. Company name Avast. I clicked on the pop up. I gave out my credit card number when I clicked on the pop up. I have contacted my credit card company. They kept closing down my computer. I had to keep shutting it down. They charged $13.49 to install anti virus. This happened on my old computer. I now have a new computer. I do not have the phony phone number they gave me. When I called a recording came on the number cannot be located. One number I called wanted to access my information and I hung up.

I recieved the folowing email from Avast & thought is was fishy as I never ordered the product & my actual address is not on the order.
