I opened a link regarding an active shooter at the Nike campus in Portland Oregon. My laptop was locked up and I was required to call a phone number. After 2 hours on the phone when they were supposedly cleaning up viruses, they asked fior my banking info to give me $400 for my trouble. When I refused to give my routing number they removed all the folders from my desktop and demanded $3000.00. I refused. And my folders are still gone though I think I can get them back. This is extremely predatory. I was stupid to clink the link and to proceed when a James Wilson with a heavy accent told me he would help me. The website looks legit; maybe it is but I allowed them access to my desktop. It could have been worse. As of tonight, I still don’t have the folders and I don’t what the damage is. They also called me back at least once and said they would return folders again but did not. I’ve unplugged my wifi (which I should have done sooner). I’ll see what happens tomorrow with my IT guy. I’d like to pursue this with the ScamPulse.com and the FBI.
