Avis Budget Group Inc Fraud Reports & Reviews (10)

This is not recent but I recognized it online. They seem to be using different variations of Barry's name. They wanted me to deposit a check and then stopped replying once I started asking questions. I even took the liberty of contacting the real Mr. Waid on LinkedIn to inform him they are using his name for fraud.

Got the text this morning. The positions are listed on the website but this Barry Waid is a scammer. See attached. No one text about a job on a Saturday at that. Then tells you to download Telegram ummmm no sir I will not. After I said I do not feel comfortable he stops texting.

I have just experience the EXACT same thing! I know I need to be more careful when putting my phone number on my application. Anyways I received a text not saying that they thing they have a good fit for me, but I'm able to chose what I want to do. This Berry Waid guy is creepy and needs to be stopped ASAP! I'm so tired of looking for jobs and having no luck. Then when a little spark comes along only I find out that it's a scam. Without all of the information that everyone has reported I would have thought nothing of it. Thank you!

I also received a text from Barry Waid saying he found my resume on Indeed. He offered me a choice of six positions with Avis Budget Group, all paying $35/hr, fully remote and working any hours I want. Yes, too good to be true. The poor grammar and sentence structure was also a red flag. I had to download the Telegram Messenger app to proceed communication with him. When I asked questions, he told me I'm allowed to ask questions when the briefing interview was over. I searched the Avis website and saw the same job postings paying only $20/hr, and no results for Barry Waid. There are other Barry Waids, in fact one of them even posted on his Linkedin page that he is not hiring and beware of scams. He must receive a lot of correspondence to put that up, haha! So I told this fake Barry Waid that I thought his offer sounded like a scam and I don't want to proceed. He never replied, and I've never heard from him again.

Just like everyone stated I got the same message they got. Thankfully I looked into it before responding. I’ll just block it. Uploading screen shot.

Last week I received an email from someone named Barry Waid who claimed to be from Avis Budget Group, offering work at home positions starting at $35/hr. I texted back that I was interested and was instructed to download the Telegram app for an online interview. Once I did, this person asked me basic interview questions. But I got suspicious because of the generic old white guy profile picture they used, but also the refusal to answer any direct questions, and the inordinate amount of time it took for this person to come back online. Every morning of the past 3 days, I get the same message: "good morning, we can continue when you're ready" and when I respond, total radio silence until the following morning. I finally just deleted the app and blocked the number from my phone just now after reading the above complaint. Remember, if something sounds way too [censored]ing good to be true, IT PROBABLY IS

I received a text message saying that my resume has been reviewed on Indeed and I was being offered a position that paid $30.75. I thought that it was fishy at first but I went along with it because I had been looking for employment in the field they were offering. I was told that I had to use a google hangout app in order to do the interview because of COVID. So I did and I was told that I would be sent a check in order to purchase equipment for the job. Unfortunately, I ignored my gut feeling and sent it to the bank. The check was put on hold for review and I started to question things. The letter that came with the check had grammar errors in it and demands that I report everything I purchase when I receive the money in the account. I was later told in an email by the person to shred the letter for no reason. That was a big red flag to me. I got even more suspicious about this based on what they were asking me. I was asked if I could have part of the funds available, which made me research scams like this. It turns out that a few others have had a similar experience like this. The only terrible thing about this is that they have my identity because I was instructed to upload driver's license for documents.

Thank You for taking the time to report. [censored] like this keeps me wondering the extent human kind would go through to benefit them selves.
