I am a member of several “work from home/work online” groups. I saw a post from a woman named Lucy Smith, she had a normal profile, so I felt comfortable with what she told me.
She said work paid $23 an hour for data entry. This seems reasonable, and legit. She told me to message an email on WhatsApp, [email protected]
After messaging “Mrs. Catherine” we spoke about work, and did my interview. She said I placed higher than anyone else, the highest was an 85%, I was a 90% and that was something to be proof of.
She said I would be sent the money to pick up the proper equipment needed to perform the job. I thought that was odd, but then she said she was mistaken, they would send the equipment by Friday.
She said I got a sign on bonus of $350 and she wanted to get it to me ASAP. I offered her to send it via PayPal, Venmo, WesternUnion, or GreenDot. She said they were not set up to deposit money to employees that way, it had to be to a normal bank. I explained to her I did not have any other way for her to send me money, except my bank bank, but I wasn’t going to give her that info. She requested my login name and password and asked me how much my limit of credit was. There’s a lot more to it, I can attach photos of the conversations...
Then I have another similar situation with a woman who is with some charity but asking for the same info. I screen shot all out conversation.
These people are really dangerous! I have lost so much money from people like this, is there anything I can legally do?
