Hello, this is to make others aware of a possible scam. I purchased an admission to the Avocado Half Marathon in 2018. The even was postponed, then canceled, but the organization said they could do refunds. I reached out a few times, was ignored, and never received a refund. I also did not receive any information about being rolled into next year’s race, which was another option they offered. From my research, others have had the exact same issue. It seems as though from roughly 2017 to 2020, this organization continues to advertise for a race, then cancel it a few weeks prior for poor coordination and several claim to have never received a refund. Admission was roughly $100. Please check their Facebook page and Yelp for other similar complaints. I believe the organization has deleted other posts as well. I saw that they are now doing virtual races. I fear they are still scamming people by having them pay to sign up and not sending anything to them. From their website, their last run race results had one person on it. This could be fake. Their “run photos” on their site could also be fake.

It seems as though the first few years of their existence (7-8 years ago), they did hold the race, but it was poorly executed. However, since then, it appears as though they continuously cancel the race last minute and do not do refunds or send out the medals or T-shirts that comes with the purchase. Myself and others have paid for the event, did not get to do the event, did not receive our items, and never received a refund or reimbursement in the form of another race.
