Same thing happened to me, but fortunately I saw this thread and did my own follow up before it went too far. They're using the name and image of the actual hiring manager of Avril on their telegram page, there is absolutely no trace of any US offices. They gave me an address, which I looked up, and it is for a Business Filings Incorporated. When I called them out, they deleted the telegram conversation. Be careful these guys are good.

I just got off of a very long interview with this company! As soon as I was told about the check I knew it didn't seem right! I told them I would have to check with some other people about their process before I put anything into my account! I think I was also taken aback when I was asked if I wanted to be paid weekly or bi-weekly? I have never heard of this before.

I received an email from someone saying they saw my resume and qualifications on Indeed and asked me to reach out to them via “Telegram” app. I did so to find a Marc Raffo from Avril Group. I looked into the name and company and it all matched up. Felt ok. Next they asked me a lot of interview questions and said I answered well and immediately wanted to hire me. Sent me new hire packet (which I did NOT complete) and then told me they overnighted a check in which I was to use for buying a computer, printer and software to perform the job. I received the check for $4,962 and was asked to do a virtual deposit and send a screenshot of the task. Before I did so, I checked the check, address and phone number of where the fedex package came from. That’s when the antennas went up. It didn’t feel right. So I contacted my bank directly. After working with them, it was determined to be a scam.

These guys are good. Really good and almost TOO good.
