I was contacted via text message about a job. Long story short, I gave them personal information, so I had to freeze my credit. They seem legit, but it was too good to be true. I should’ve looked at the rest of the comments before I looked.

An individual contacted me through text messaging and told me that I was being considered for a job position consistent with my previous applications. The text told me to download Telegram and message another individual. The person in Telegram told me that she was a hiring manager. She conducted a very fast-paced interview and pretended to hire me right away. She told me that the next step in the hiring process would be to send me a check or direct deposit to purchase a list of home office supplies, including a new Apple computer and iPhone. I noticed that this scam was illegitimate when they told me to send my personal information to an email address that did not match the alleged hiring company's website address. I did not send my personal information to the fake email, but I did give my name, age, and state of residence throughout the fake "interview."
