I was attempting to set up a new Samsung Smart TV. Samsung needed my Samsung account number before adding apps to my set. As I tried to complete the requested action, with some confusion, I was brought to a screen that requested my credit card information with the assurance that the card would not be charged. I did not notice anything on the screen to indicate that this was a third party page. I assumed that Samsung needed the card for future billing if I ordered a new streaming service through them. Shortly after entering my card info, I noticed fine print at the bottom of the screen saying that I would be charged $49.95 per month after 5 days. I called Samsung immediately and was advised that they do not have a monthly charge for the use of their services, nor had they heard of such a service. The next day I noticed two small charges on my Chase card account. $1.00 and $1.95 from a company identified as "Ayurin.XYZ". Additional research revealed that Ayurin.XYZ was not a legitimate company and had engaged in scam behavior, including continuing to charge the monthly fee even after they had been directed to cancel a subscription. Yesterday I was notified by Chase that Ayurin.XYZ had attempted to submit a $49.95 claim.
