**Scammer Details:**
(1) There's a noticeable discrepancy between the online store's name, "beautyelly.com," and the merchant name that appeared on my credit card statement: "ellenana.com Hong Kong". When I confronted their customer service about this inconsistency via their website chat, I was informed that their company headquarters is based in Hong Kong, with one of their warehouses situated in CA. Their dubious customer service, coupled with their misleading product portrayals, raised significant concerns. Additionally, their website cunningly conceals their terms and conditions. Particularly troubling is their return policy, which is not only unjustly defined but also strategically positioned on their site to evade easy detection by consumers.
**Product/Service Offered:**
The items I ordered were clothing pieces, which, based on the website's pictures and descriptions, appeared to be of high quality and specific sizes. However, the delivered products were neither as described nor matched the images on the website.
**Tactics Used by the Scammer:**
1. **Misrepresentation**: The products were displayed with high-resolution photos and detailed descriptions, making them appear genuine and of high quality.
2. **Lack of Transparency**: There was no indication that the products would differ from their descriptions or that the sizes would be inconsistent.
3. **Shifting the Burden**: When I sought to return the products, the company attempted to place the return shipping cost burden on me, which due to their errors, seemed both unjust and potentially unlawful.
4. **Avoidance**: The company did not readily provide a prepaid shipping address or return authorization, further complicating the return process and indicating their reluctance to resolve the issue.
Subsequently, I initiated a dispute with my credit card company, only to find out that I might not be the only one who has been deceived by this online store. Their tactics not only cost me financially but also resulted in a significant waste of time and energy.
