Due to COVID economy it seemed quite plausible since so many retailers were going out of business.
I paid the $7.53 and then received an e-mail to confirm purchase from Bella Oasis Hydrating Cream and knew I had been had.
I figured that was it and I would never receive product. Surprisingly, product arrived in mail a week or so later. The small cream jar had a generic label on it so I threw it away - had no idea what could possibly be in it. Figured, I was a sucker and was out $7.53. Lesson learned.
Two weeks later I received a text from Capital One Visa to approve a pending charge from Bella Oasis Global Beauty for $89.93. I did not approve. Called Capital One the next morning only to find I had signed up for a monthly subscription of Bella Oasis Hydrating Cream for $89.93 per month. Since the charge was still pending (and I understand that is key) I was able to block the company charging my credit card.
I didn't have any information on the company but Capital One did, so I called the number (sounded like an outsourced call center).
Relayed I purchased from a Neiman Marcus ad and I never signed up for this subscription. The CS Agent told me that the "the company doesn't have anything to do with the advertising" and then asked me if I had read the "TERMS AND CONDITIONS" of the agreement. BE CAREFUL...I NEVER fall for scams, but I was a sucker and drawn right into this one.
RESULT: I am writing this report immediately after my conversation with the Bella Oasis CS Agent conversation so I don' t know if further attempts will be made to charge my card but, here's what the CS Agent from Bella Oasis told me.
Because the charge was declined, the subscription was cancelled and I will no longer be charged in future months. I guess we will see.
Not sure if this website has a way to update this report since I've never been scammed before but I guess I'll find out upon submission.
