Dr. Goodwin told me to expect a check via the US Mail or FedEx so I can purchase a laptop and accounting software in order to work from home. The man pressed me hard to ensure that I received the check in the amount of $3,914.00. Once confirmed receipt of the check he wanted me me to deposit the check ASAP, but I told him I could not do so simply because my bank is not local. He then asked if I could deposit it via mobile banking and I told him that I had trouble with the process - he said okay, but then wanted me to go to WalMart! When pressed about WalMart - he changed the subject and said once I deposit the check he will give me further instructions.
I proceeded to contact the First Kansas Bank to verify the cashier's check - the account is FRAUD! The account, the name on the account and the address on the top of the fake check was inaccurate.
Second perpetrator: Fraud check came from Henry Ortega, used the address Emerging Technologies Institute, *** Queens Blvd., Forrest Hills NY 11375. Phone # 240 425 4576. I contacted the school and Henry Ortega is not affiliated with the agency. This transaction cost $23.75 for using the US Postal System to defraud a citizen and the First Kansas Bank.
