Bernedoodle Ranch Reports & Reviews (2)

On the website I had expressed interest about several puppies. I only received an email and text about one of the puppies. The emailer seemed legitimate at first, though the name on the email was “Berne Doodle” (red flag #1). We were told this “ranch” was located in Tucson, Arizona, however when doing a google search I was unable to find this ranch. We were sent pictures of the puppy and the environment did not look like a desert area in the outdoor background. We asked for a video and was sent a 5 second clip of the puppy riding on a boat on some body of water (luscious green grass and a body of water, are these things in Tucson?). We are located on the east coast and we’re told they could set up shipping and delivery of the puppy but they need payment through Zelle or ApplePay first. I had asked specific questions about the health and lineage of the puppy and the parents of the puppy, however I was given a single, very general response (I.e. Are the parents both bernedoodles or is it a mix between a standard poodle and a bernedoodle, and can we see pictures of the parents? Response was: the puppy is an F1 bernedoodle). We were nervous about sending money without speaking with someone on the phone or seeing the puppy in real time, so my husband and I tried calling the phone number that had been texting me. When we did so, the call was “unavailable”. We asked to connect through a phone call or a video call prior to sending payment and the scammer got very angry when we requested this. They then told us if we wanted the puppy to be sent on a plane that day that they would need payment. At this point we pulled out of this transaction in fear of being scammed.

Researching online breeders to get new family pet. Filled out online request for more information.

Exchanged photo and many emails about the puppy we hoped to purchase.

Made decision to move ahead with shipping vs driving to pickup due to location (we live in MN, breeder was in AZ). Shared they ship puppies across USA and CAN regularly.

I paid deposit of $900 + $200 shipping fee for total of $1100.

I received shipping details the following day. I was told to watch for additional information from the delivery company. Later in afternoon I received an email marked urgent and a call from the “shipping company” requesting an additional $990 for a special Thermal Electronic Crate option.

I questioned the breeder about this and they told me they would look into it. I questioned the additional charges since they shared $200 which I had already paid.

We exchanged several emails (I’m happy to share full message set) and I requested a refund as this was no longer the agreement I believed I originally agreed to. The “breeders” emails got increasingly disrespectful and I asked for a refund. I sent 2 requests through Zelle. Both were denied. I have screen shots of all transactions.

Originally I thought perhaps the transportation company was the scam, but I believe the whole operation is connected. I am no longer receiving a response to my emails.
