Type of a scam Online Purchase
The website looks legitimate and even has reviews on it for the various products. The package was supposedly sent
via swiftcargoglobal.com to my home. It even has a tacking number system and chat system that works to add
legitimacy. This is the second part of the scam.
I initial became suspicious when I was sent a tracking number that did not show up in the swift cargo global
system. But the "sales rep" at best global electronics quickly sent me a new one.
After this was corrected, I began getting updates via WhatsApp on the status of my package. Suddenly I needed to
pay insurance fees when it arrived in Puerto Rico. I was promised it was necessary because it was an import and I
would receive a complete refund once the package was delivered. Then oddly the package status showed it was
taken to Mexico. Again more fees and more promises that everything will be refunded. I decided to stop the
madness when I was asked to pay over $1000 for the package to leave Mexico and finally come to the United States.
The "sales rep" practically begged me to finish the transaction but I decide that the entire encounter was an
elaborate scam.
I did some research and found that this operation is called the package delivery scam. The names of previous
websites used in this scam are similar to this current iteration.
