I was contacted via text message asking if I wanted a job position. Once I confirmed I did I was asked to invite my “hiring manager” to a hangout conversation where I was interviewed. They said I could work from home and just needed to give my home address so they can send me a “check” to buy my home office equipment. I received a check but it wouldn’t deposit until Thanksgiving Day which means I couldn’t do anything with it because everything was closed. This is when it started getting sketchy I was told I would need to give the money to a vendor they used. But everytime I asked for a vendor information I was told I would be informed when I money was posted. Then I was asked to go send a money gram to someone In Columbia. I knew something was going on so I told the “hiring manager” (Haider Choudrey) that I would do it in the morning when everything was open. He addressed my concerns but when I asked to FaceTime or get proof the he was legit he said I would just have to trust him. I discovered it was true scam when I checked my account on the next day the money was gone.

This company wanted me to interview over google hangout messenger he wrote: "Before we proceed, ... I would love to know more about you. That would help me to categorize you and how best to interview you. I am Dawood and am 43 years old, I'm The Trading Director of Bestway Group.(https://Bestwaygroup.co.uk). I am here to brief and interview you more about the opening position, Please introduce yourself and indicate your Full Name, age, sex and Location." Notice his name changed and now instead of being based in Colorado they are out of the UK. I looked up the business on ScamPulse.com for US and Canada and found 5 other employment scans just like this with the business name Bestway Group. They are located ouy of Pakistan.

I received an email that contained this but I don't remember sending them an application.

I went and did the interview via Google hangouts and everything checked out until the end. When I received these messages it seemed a little fishy to me.

Below are the list of materials needed for this position since you'd be working from home: 4 in one (fax, scanner, copier and printer), Zebra ZM400 Bar-code printer and cards, 4 drawer cabinet and office desks, HP Pavilion HDX18-1180US 18.4-Inch Laptop (2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Quad Q9000 Processor, 4 GB RAM, 500 GB Hard Drive, Blu-ray Drive, Vista Premium) Peachtree Complete Accounting Software, CYMA IV for Windows Accounting Software, MYOB Business Essentials Accounting Software, QuickBooks Pro Accounting Software and a Time Tracker.

Are you familiar with any of these?

You will get started with work ASAP, The company will provide you a free Latest HP laptop with a fast internet connection and your W4 form will be coming along with the working materials you need to start working with, you are to purchase all your materials from a certified vendor we have been patronizing for years now. You will receive a paycheck for the purchase of the working materials, the company's accounting dept will issue the check and have it sent to your house via FedEx

I really can't tell if this is a scam or not cause all the contact information checks out and so does the website.

I applied for the position Via ZipRecruiter. I was reached out to about the position. Giving the financial situation I wanted to get a better job or which I thought. I told I would be sent a check to get my supplies. I was skeptical but my suspicion was eased when I received a fake confirmation email about the equipment being purchased. I have an account with USAA and I don’t want my account flagged for illegal activity because I unwillingly knew I was being scammed. I have a lot more information that I’ve screenshot, emails I’ve received, the report I sent to ZipRecruiter and I have a negative balance of $4,744 because of this and I can’t have my bank removed this until they have a report in the system where I’ve reported
