I was called by a number with a Kingston area code, and told that it was an agent from the BBB, who was sending over investigators to go through my phone. I was asked immediately to provide my full address for the investigators to come speak with me. I was told that my phone number was linked to a fraudulent scammer who was calling individuals acting as Service Canada & requesting to send money. I was told the amounts taken over a group of people amounted to over $150k and that they had received over 400 calls from people claiming a scammer had called from my phone. I was told to give my address again when I asked what the name of the agent was and the number for his office, and refused the information. I was told he was calling from a personal phone and it was not his job to give me his name. I told him I had no idea what he was talking about & had no part in any scam. He apologized for being so aggressive and told me to call Bell (he knew my carrier) and to have my number changed and ask them to track who had hacked onto my phone....I told him that I would. I then asked if I could have a number to call & explain what I would find out from Bell, and he told me either himself or another agent would contact me by the end of the day.
