I applied through LinkedIn for a job as a marketing assistant position through Bettis Brothers Sand and Gravel. The company looked legit and through LinkedIn had 428 people apply to it. Shortly later that week, I received an email about how I needed to submit my updated cover letter and salary requirements for consideration. I emailed back saying that I'd submit it later that evening to which I got an email back saying the position was filled BUT there was going to be another opening for the same position the 3rd week of May. In the meantime, I could be given this position as an EVA to transition into the company. I took the opportunity and waited for an interview call. They said they couldn't get on an interview call because they were out of town. I answered a couple of questions and signed a very real-looking contract. Mind you that, this whole time the CEO is contacting me. The "CEO" is a PRO HALL OF FAMER for the sport of football and has many good reputations behind him. Knowing he's a real person, I was grateful for the opportunity. Apparently, this CEO had his accountant cut a check from this one account to send to me via mail. I wondered why the accountant couldn't just send the check themself. But a couple of days later I received a check for $4965 dollars. I raced home from another job I was doing to deposit the check into the account. I went into Chase to deposit it and they put a hold on my account for this check as they do for most big checks. I told the "CEO" that the check was on hold and I haven't heard anything since. This person wanted proof that I had deposited the check into my account and so I sent proof and didn't include any personal info because I haven't even met this person. I saw another posting on this ScamPulse.com page about the SAME EXACT SITUATION and now I know it was a scam.
