I have been corresponding with a Mrs. Betty Polick and want to check if she is legit. I own a business and she is soliciting my services. She is texting me from a Florida area code (407). Are there any complaints regarding this individual?
Unfortunately ScamPulse.com doesn't process complaints against consumers ... does she own a business? what kind of services is she soliciting? Can you tell me what the text said?
I don't know if she owns a business but she is soliciting boat or fishing "training". I own a fishing charter business. What is unusual is that she is wanting to schedule a 2x/week x 6 week long booking which will cost around 6K. Then she wants me to pay (with her funds) the limo driver who will deliver the clients tot he site. She says she wants to pay via credit card but cannot use PayPal and asks me to set up mobile payments via First Data or Swipe Simple. I just don't know if she is legit due to the large sum of money she wants to send my way.
I certainly understand that ... and you're correct at being suspicious. This sounds like a scam with stolen CC numbers (which is why they don't want to use Paypal). I bet she only communicates via text (or have you spoken to her)? ... how much are you suppose to pay the limo company (and my question to her would be... why can't she pay the limo company if she has a CC).
You are correct that she only communicates via text. She wants me to pay the limo driver $3000 and says she will tip me $50. And my thoughts exactly. She could pay the limo herself the same way that she Is asking me to.
The best thing you can do is to just stop communications with her (if it "is" a "her",), and eventually they'll get the drift that you've caught onto their scam. What's the phone number "she" is texting you from?
(407)289-8082. She originally said that the service was for her "kids" (2 male/2 female). Then more recently she referred to them as "the ladies". Her English is not so good so I thought that maybe she was a foreigner.
I just ran the phone number to see if it connects to a ScamPulse.com review with no luck (didn't expect results, but gave it a shot).... You might want to contact HPD and see if it's worth turning the phone number and scam attempt info to the FBI field office in Honolulu.
Okay just to be clear: You believe that this is a credit card scam and I should cease all communications with this person. I should contact HPD to determine if I should turn the info over to the local FBI office.
Yes, I do believe this to be an "overpayment scam" it fits... and the fact that they only communicat via text, want to pay you extra so you can pay cash to the Limo company, this fits everything a stolen CC # has. I did a reverse search on the phone number on White pages.com and got this ... http://www.whitepages.com/phone/1-407-289-8082 but we don't have the resources to get the name of the phone owner, but this tells Law enforcement the area and mobile phone carrier. I would just avoid any further contact with this person.
Okay thanks,
