I called my construction/renovation company to do some warranty work on my deck (some boards had come loose) and about a drainage problem. Another company, Beyond Construction & Remodeling (who used to work with my construction/renovation), found out that I had called about the warranty work. So a man from Beyond Construction and Remodeling called me impersonating an employee of my construction/renovation company. He and another man came to my house. We discussed the warranty work to be done and during the conversation, they said I had to pay for the warranty work. I don't have to pay for the warranty work (first "red flag"). Then they recommended that I do some additional upgrades on my yard. They said they could show me the work they have done on other homes in my neighborhood. If they were my real company, I wouldn't need to see their work on other homes since my construction/renovation company had already done work on my home so I know the work they do (second "red flag"). Then they tried to pressure me into paying $1000 right then or no warranty work would be done. (third "red flag"). After that I told them to leave because of the "red flags". I called the owner of my construction/renovation company and told him what happened. He asked me for more details and, after I showed him pictures of the men from my security cameras, he informed me that they work for Beyond Construction and Remodeling and that they no longer work with his company. (My construction/renovation company has since done the warranty work.).
