I was contacted via email with an interview offer. The scammer spoofed the name and position for a company I had recently applied for through LinkedIn. I was asked to download Wire Secure Messenger to conduct a chat-based interview. I was asked a series of questions, told I had done well, and then told my information would be forwarded to HR. I was later called by my interviewer, asked if I was still interested in the position, and told I would receive another email. After a couple days, I received this email, which requested I sign an NDA, a letter of acceptance of employment, and to provide my banking information for direct deposit. Unaware that I was being scammed, I provided this information, and included an image of my ID, which I was told was to confirm my identity. I finally discovered I was being scammed when my interviewer contacted me again over Wire Secure Messenger and attempted to get me to deposit a check (with a different company name) to my bank account. The bank informed me that they could not accept a computer-generated check as it might be fraud. I then started asking my interviewer questions, until finally he stopped messaging me without explanation. No funds have been stolen from my bank account yet, but I am concerned with the amount of personal information the scammer was able to trick me into sending before I discovered the job offer was a scam. Also, the NDA warned of serious financial repercussions for violating the NDA, but I am hoping that since the contract was faked, I will not be fined for exposing this scam.
