The specific details are as follows:
Liberty Tax claimed that I needed to complete an 8-week unpaid course before being considered for employment, with no guarantee of a job offer upon completion.
I was required to purchase course materials for $150, which were advertised as valuable books. However, the materials provided were nothing more than two chapters of information that is readily available online.
I not only had to waste my time and money going to the interview, but when I requested a refund due to the deceptive nature of the transaction, Liberty Tax made several excuses. The representative claimed that she needed to make a call to see if a refund was possible. After waiting a few minutes, with more people arriving for interviews, she verbally told me I would "receive the refund in a couple of days."
That same day, she left me a voicemail saying, "I have not forgotten about you, but the internet is down in our office and there's some kind of problem with the internet in this area. I’m not really sure when I’m going to get the internet back up, and I'm getting ready to go home." To date, no refund has been processed, and I have not received any supporting documentation.
This practice feels unethical and misleading. I am requesting that the ScamPulse.com investigate this matter and assist in resolving the issue, including a full refund of the $150 I paid.
Thank you for your attention.
