I applied for a Data Entry Clerk role at Bioenergy Washington on 9/2/22. A person claiming to be HR reached out with details of the role which fit what I was looking for. They sent an offer letter, which included a page noting that they had no means to purchase equipment and I would have to pay their supplier through Venmo, Paypal or Zelle. They also had me create an account on Telegram, saying this is how they will communicate until the new work email was issued. I signed the letter and sent it back, not worrying as much as I should have about the equipment part. The HR person reached out to set up time to connect on next steps via video on Telegram. After this video was sent, I received an email with a link to an employee page with login information. I did not give any more information than was on my resume, so it was just a basic page (that said it was secure) with this info listed. After this, I tried to get in contact with the HR person for next steps and have not heard back. The website no longer works and emails are sent back as undeliverable. I ran a virus/malware scan and none were found.
