Scammer's address 1703 Atlantic Avenue, Del Ray Beach
Type of a scam Yellow Pages/Directories
I pressed 1 and got a sharp guy who identified himself as Greg. Greg spoke fast and confident, and I could tell he was experienced. It sounded as if he was in a boiler room as I could hear others on phones in the background. He began asking me for my business information. I asked who I reached and he said "Biz Mote." He went on to explain that Google is not existing or it is about to expire for my business. Said it's "like the old-time white pages." I asked where his company was located and he said Del Ray Beach, FL. He made a crack about the weather. I asked for an address and he said "Well you sure are full of questions."
He went on to say "You don't want obsolete information. All you have to do is verify it once with us, and it's good for a lifetime." Said he can get my business listed right away. All he needs to do is ask me a couple questions. I said before I answer any, I'd like to know who I'm doing business with and he said he already gave me the name.....I said sure, but where exactly is it located? He said Del Ray Beach and told me to Google it - said that's how people find information all the time. I googled it, found the website and he continued to talk about getting us listed. I told him I have the website up in front of me and I see a "Contact us" but no address.....He was clearly irritated each time I asked a question. Very pushy! He snapped, "What do you want to know?!" I asked what the cost was and he said he's sold to smaller companies for a couple hundred dollars up to bigger corporations for a couple thousand." He said he would need more information from me to give me an exact estimate, but I should figure it would cost us about $400.
I told him that's great - but I don't know where the company is located! He said why did I needed to know "since I could see they have a website" (!). I said yes, but under "contact us" it doesn't list an address at all. Said I didn't see Biz Mote listed with the ScamPulse.com either. I again asked for an address. He replied, "We don't have our address listed for security purposes." I said "Security purposes?!!! You're doing business with the public but we don't know where you are??!!" He said "it's just like Google. There's no address for Google! We're the same way!" Then said, "We're in Del Ray Beach, I already told you that!" I said I know...but what is the address? He was very frustrated, said "Atlantic Avenue, alright?!" I pushed, asking for an address. He replied, "I think 1703 Atlantic Avenue." I said "you think? Aren't you there right now? Or are you somewhere else? He said "I'm here, but I don't look at the address every day when I walk into work. We're on the corner of Congress and Atlantic!" I replied, "surely you should know the address of where you work!"
He barely let me finish my sentence when he angrily said, "You know what? You're probing questions like the FBI. I sell to companies every day and nobody asks the questions that you are. I don't need this from you" -and he hung up!
