I was initially contacted by text. I have been using job sites, and I assumed the individual had gotten my information from one of the job sites. He identified himself as Stephen Gelnar, and at first, it seemed legitimate. However, after I had been offered the position, I was instructed to print out an e-check and deposit it into my account for office equipment and software that I would need for the position. The check was supposed to be from an affiliate company; however, when I printed the check, it was from ****** ******* ********* ********** *********. It would be very strange for an oil and gas company operating out of Texas to use a retirement company out of South Carolina as an affiliate company. The total was almost $5,000. I called the retirement community and verified that they were, in fact, not an affiliate of Black Bear Energy Resources.
