Then I ask him to send me an official statement in the mail, and he refuses and tells me they don't mail anything...to which I replied "Well the voicemail your company left me claims they tried to have legal documents served at my address but it was returned as 'undeliverable', so if you can try to serve me with 'legal documents' why can't you sent me a professional statement in the mail"? He proceeded to tell me that that's not how this works and that they don't send mail and I have to make a payment arrangement over the phone, blahblahblah... I told him I thought this was a bull[censored] scam and he started to get angry with me, told me I needed to stop asking questions and listen to what he had to say... then he got frustrated and put me on hold, and that's when I hung up.
I immediately went online to Google his 'law firm' (Blackwell Bristol & Associates) and that's when I found this site. I knew it was a scam, DON'T FALL FOR IT!

This was an attempt to collect a debt I did not owe. They had all my personal information including my FULL social Security #, which I'm extremely concerned about.
Debt collection scam
Yesterday I got a call and voice mail saying I had been mailed some legal papers in regards to a court appearance to collect a debt and they came back to them, and I needed to call immediately 1-888-719-0293 Ext. 101.
I did call thinking this must be a mistake. I talked to C. Harris. She said I owed $65,000.00 to HSBC Bank and I had 24 hours to settle the debt. She said the legal papers they sent came back and she said my address and it was correct. I said I don't know why they came back.
She told me my FULL social security #, and 2 currant credit cards I have. I asked her what the name of her firm was and said it was Blackwell, Bristol and Associates.
I told her this must be a mistake or it's a scam. She said , if it was a scam, I would be trying to get your information, not giving you your information. She said if I don't pay they can garnishee my wages and seize my bank account and take any tax refunds.
I told her I have never heard of this bank and do not owe them any money. She insisted I do and said she will make me an offer of settling the debt for $4,000.00, if I do it today. I told her I want the banks phone # and my account number. I insisted I want to call them and I will call her back tomorrow. She agreed and said I must call back within 24 hours.
I talked to my daughter and we decided this is definitely a scam!
I'm extremely concerned about her having my FULL social security #.
My next step is to report this to usa.gov (report scams and frauds)
I'm not calling the bank # she gave me. It's probably one of the scammers # and a phony account #.
