I write this letter to inform you of a company that in my opinion is engaged in predatory practices and seemingly appears to be taking advantage of people during the holiday season. The company operates via URL https://www.bobbleheadcraft.com. They use a payment processor identified via URL https://www.2checkout.com/. Both appear to be companies operating out of China and to date, no luck has been found in addressing my issue.
On December 10, 2023 I placed an order for a bobble head figurine for my wife. The vendor website (bobbleheadcraft.com) allowed for customization of the figurine so that it was personalized to the likeness of my wife. I placed my order added my correct billing/shipping information and was directed to the payment page. This payment page would not accept Visa or MasterCard which forced me to use PayPal. I had to create/fund my PayPal account and then went right back to the page where my order was being processed. After being directed to the payment processing portal (associated with 2checkout), I placed my PayPal account information in order to finalize my order and considering the holidays were approaching, I decided to pay for the expedited service and shipping which added an additional $15 - $20 on top of what I was paying. The total for my order was $125.85.
While the payment was processing, I noticed the address for shipping was randomly changed to an address in Far Rockaway NY. I reside in San Diego CA and have absolutely no ties to NY. This address was placed, seemingly at random and without my knowledge until I went in to verify my order, after payment was processed.
From December 10, 2023 to date, I have made various attempts to get confirmation from the payment processor and from the vendor that my order will be coming to my San Diego address. I have received no such confirmation. The payment processor directed me to the vendor and the vendor has failed to respond to my inquiries in an adequate manner.
Additionally, I placed a claim with PayPal for this purchase. In my claim, I did not request a refund, but instead was simply asking that the vendor confirm for me the address where my order would be shipped to. I finally received a response from the vendor stating that they received a “chargeback” request and that I need to cancel that chargeback request in order for my order to proceed. I went ahead and cancelled the PayPal request with hopes that this would reflect my desire to still receive the item. After doing this, I still have not received a confirmation from the vendor that my order is being processed or that it will be shipped to the correct address (San Diego, CA). Lastly, the vendor website has a tracking feature to track one’s order. I placed my order number and email into the appropriate fields and receive a message “could not find order” (see attached screenshot).
Needless to say, I feel like I was simply duped by these companies (both the vendor and payment processor) and am left with no recourse. PayPal will now not reopen my dispute claim because I closed it in with the anticipation that doing so would initiate the appropriate and correct processing my purchase order. I am attaching my email correspondence with PayPal, the payment processor (2checkout) and the vendor (bobbleheadcraft). I will also initiate a claim against them via my financial institution and will submit this for appropriate legal action. I submit this to you for action deemed necessary. I am a single individual with a sole purchase of $125, but I fear these deceptive sales/payment processing tactics may be something that is affecting others and on a much larger scale.
If the vendor is willing to either complete my order as agreed upon and on an expedited basis (considering I paid for the quicker processing), or provide me with a full refund, I have no issues. However, given that there is no phone number to contact them on and all my attempts to receive a resolution to this have gone unanswered, I am left with no further recourse accept for what I must do now.
