We found a sponsored ad on google for Bob's Locksmith and called to have two deadbolts installed. The technician, Mike, came and began drilling the hole for the first lock. He stripped away a layer of wood 2 1/2 inch by 6 inch by pushing too hard with a dull drill, then kept saying it would be okay when he was done and to let him finish. We did, and when he drilled the side hole he split the edge of the door, we didn't see that until he was done though. He finished installing the lock and then when we noted the damage was still there, insisted that it was just old paint that peeled off, and that the door split was too! When we asked if he would fix it he said it would cost more! We told him not to attempt the second lock and he gave us the cost. He initially told us over the phone that both locks would be $300, then when the job was done it came to $770.42. At this point we just wanted him to leave so we paid it and he did. We wanted to leave a review so went to look up the business only to find that the only locksmith in utah with "Bob" in the name is Bob's Lock and Key and is completely unrelated. We found the ad which says they have 54+ years experience but the reviews only go back a year and half match our experience while the others mention Lock and Key and are good. We noted the number on the ad was different than what we called and on a hunch, refreshed the page which generated another new number! There is no website, or physical address listed on the ad. We called ScamPulse.com to make a complaint when we still thought the business was legit and the lady couldn't find any record of "Bob's Locksmith" or the phone numbers we gave her being attached to Any business listing. We believe this business has tricked it's way onto Google's sponsored ads and is banking on people thinking it is Bob's Lock and Key, because all they remember is Bob. I have pictures of the damage and will gladly share them upon request.
