I contacted Bonafide Munchkin Cattery via their website about a kitten they had for sale. I got both a text and email back. The email asked for personal information (my name, address, ability to care for a cat, etc). They agreed to sell me a cat and asked for payment for the cat and shipping. I was uncomfortable with shipping a 10 week old kitten and said I’d fly to get it. They gave me their address and asked for a deposit via Zelle. I waited a few days while I did research. I couldn’t find any information on the company and when I did a reverse look up on the phone number and name they had given me, I learned that neither existed. I went back and asked them to again verify address. They reluctantly did so. I told them to I was unwilling to pay for the cat until I received it. They gave me a reduced amount and provided a different name and Zelle account. I looked up the address in Stockton and it looked like a large family home, I also did a reverse image search on the kitten and found the same picture on a different site. I went back and asked them to provide verification of business registration and a néw picture of the cat. I never heard from them again. I never sent any money so didn’t lose anything.
