Boston Terrier Puppy Scam Reports & Reviews (1)

- Brookfield, WI, USA • Jul 22, 2024

I used the contact form on the company's website, looking to purchase a new Boston Terrier puppy. It seemed fairly legitimate and had testimonials as well. The "breeder" ("Justin Wayne") was responsive via e-mail but would never actually call me. He initiated the transaction, requesting a $465 Zelle payment be made to a different named recipient ("Leonardo Sanchez Saurez") for the deposit for the puppy. I submitted the payment and sent a screenshot of confirmation that it was submitted (without any bank account information in the screenshot). They confirmed the delivery company would be transporting the puppy up to the nearest airport in our city. This company was called "International Mail Delivery" and they sent a tracking code for the puppy, which included its arrival time to our airport. We received an urgent phone call and e-mail the morning of the transport from the delivery company, requesting $500 be sent through Zelle to an "Angel Sampson" for an electronic air-conditioned crate in which the puppy could fly, otherwise it would not be able to be shipped (they said this would be 98% refundable = $490 refunded upon delivery). I submitted that payment to this new recipient and sent a screenshot of the completed transaction. The "breeder" and the delivery company confirmed that the puppy shipment was en route and would be on time as previously stated. When we arrived to the airport, we received an urgent call from the delivery company asking for another Zelle payment of $350 be sent immediately to get the puppy through "customs" with "customs puppy stamps," but they assured us that money would be refunded upon delivery of the puppy. We sternly said that we would not submit any more payments through Zelle and consulted with TSA at the airport regarding the legitimacy of "customs puppy stamps." TSA confirmed that they did not exist, especially for a flight within the country. I messaged the delivery company and the "breeder" and let them know we talked to TSA to confirm it was not a legitimate request, the delivery company called me per my insistence, and then proceeded to argue with me and then hang up on me. The "breeder" stopped responding after I texted to let him know that TSA confirmed there was no such thing as "customs puppy stamps."
