My boyfriend is looking to move, and found an ad on Craigslist for a 1BR, 1ba, 1 parking apartment in Makiki for $500. He immediately suspected a scam, because we found the same unit on Zillow for $1850. The guy is asking for a $100 application fee, which is way higher than the usual $25-35. My BF spoke with the guy on the phone today (5/21/2023), and the guy identified himself as Brandon Richards. He said he is the owner and he is in San Francisco. I looked up the property on the Honolulu Property Tax website, and he is not the owner. My BF just tried to find the Craigslist ad, but it has apparently been taken down. There may not be much change of finding him, but shouldn't someone notify the real owners about this?
