Type of a scam Home Improvement
(As a side note, he did not complete the job by delivering the spa to the backyard per our contract, but demanded full payment anyway. He threatened to take the spa back to his home out of state. He threatened to charge me more. He threatened legal action... if I did not pay him in full for an incomplete job. He sat in my driveway and would not leave my house. I gave him the check for full payment.)
Later that night, after taking my check, he called and said he changed his mind and requested payment via PayPal instead of the check saying he would leave the check in my mailbox. (Brandon Rushing did not leave the check in my mailbox.) So I obliged and sent $765.00 via PayPal.
But then, he said they didn’t prefer the PayPal “business” payment method I had used for our business transaction and requested I send a third payment via PayPal “friends” method instead. They claimed to refund $742.51 of the $765 first PayPal payment (However, no PayPal refund ever happened.)
Brandon said, “i dont mind the [PayPal Business Transaction] fee just send the 742.51 back.”
So I obliged yet again and sent, per Brandon Rushing’s insistence, $742.51 via PayPal “friends.” I said I feared I was being scammed, yet with their reassurances I was not, I sent payment a third time.
Brandon Rushing cashed/deposited the check and they accepted BOTH PayPal payments.
All three payments, instead of just one, came out of my checking account.
They did return part of one of the PayPal payments, but only part of one - - both PayPal payments are due back to me in full since Brandon Rushing signed and deposited my check.
They owe me $788.21.
