June 9,2019, I have booked the house with the address of 74 South Seasons Trce, The woodlands, TX 77382 for my mom birthday on Airbnb website. I have paid the amount (due at that time $386 and i can paid the rest later when it is close to the booking date) thru airbnb website. However, the host contacted me through airbnb inbox message and request me to send $600 which is the total cost through Cash app for his fraud protection, because Cash app requires to scan DL and link bank infomation in order to send money. So i thought that is what the host requires in case someone mess up his house because it is the very nice looking house. So i tried to send money through Cash App but it doenst go through because they need 24 hours to verify my DL and my bank acct. I did have scan my DL and link my bank account there. I am not sure if this person was trying to steal my identify as well. He keep asking me to check and send him money so he can lock the date for me if not he will cancel my booking. He asked me to Zelle to him. He sent me the first request under name Kerry with the email [email protected]. I did send him $600. Then i got another request from him with the name of Brandy Frazier requesting to send another $600. I have asked why he send another request with different name. And he said, trust him, no worries, this is just for the confirmation with his business name account. it is not going to charge me another $600. i did hit send option ( i was thinking just for the confirmation) and it did charge me another $600. He said that is his bank mistake, it will be refunded my midnight. ( i guess he wanted me to wait until the money completely transfer to his bank thats why he told me to wait until midnight so i dont dispute the charge). I have asked him to refund $1200 to me, i want to cancel the booking. And he said in order to receive the refund, i need to accept another request it just say SEND because his business bank account does that, but its not going to send ( just like the first time he got another $600 from me). i refused to send and stop communicate with him. But he still trying to ask me to accept the request to get my money back. I also got an alert email from Airbnb after i sent him money, airbnb reached out to me to alert that his account on airbnb was removed because he is violating some term with airbnb and they advise me do not send money if he asked but i already did. He said i cant recieve my money back if i dont accept the request, that is the only way to refund my money because he has the business account so it is different with regular account. i am 100% sure it is scam now. Please help me report him so others dont get this like i did.
