Type of a scam Rental
LANDLORD : **** * ****** **, Springfield, MO Inbox Thanks for showing interest , the property is available for rent and move-in ASAP, I am *** ***** ** *** ******** ******* ** **** * ****** **, Springfield, MO. I wanted to sell it out but due to some facts about the realtor I was working with before I decided not to sell it again, the agents are not truthful about handling things and I am looking to handle things myself now the best way I can. Am looking for someone that will take care of the property as if it was their own, someone that will be very neat, take good care of the property for me and make payment of rent with no delay. Pets are allowed as long as they are not destructive. The rent is $550 while the security deposit is $500.The house is ready to move in.. Utilities are included in the Rent (excluding Trash) AND LEASE IS 6 MONTHS TO A YEAR WITH OPTION OF LEASE TO OWN. The house is for rent now but would be really interested in a lease to own in the future. Consumer: Yes, we are interested. I'm guessing since you are out of state, a tour is impractical. My wife is taking a nap now, but if it's okay with you, I think we would like to drive by and peek into the windows before we start to discuss details.
Brenda *********: Great, then you should fill out the app asap and take a time to go check out the property in person because I am in TX at the moment having moved from MO to come and stay with my family here due to the pandemic. You can drive by the house any time of the day if you wish to see the house for yourself. But you have to look through the windows. If you like it, you get back to me so we can proceed with the Lease. But I hope you are not with section 8 anyway because I don't accept that at all. And you would also have to fill out an application because I still have to run a background check on you before I can agree to lease it out to you.
Consumer: I didn't see an application attached. No section 8 here. I understand the background check. I will get back with you as soon as we can go peek in the windows. If you want to forward an application in the mean time, we can get started on that and get rolling.

Consumer: Just went by. The realtor showed us through the unit. We are rushing home to print and fill out the application. The realtor said that the carpet was scheduled. You told me that it included Refrigerator, Washer and Dryer. Are they being delivered as well or are we expected to supply?
Scammer: No Problem they will be delivered.
Consumer: Thank you for your prompt responses and the information. Unfortunately, the registered owner is a renovation company from another city in Missouri. They purchased the house and renovated it to sell. I will not be sending you any more of my personal information, and you can kiss the $50.00/adult application fee goodbye. I will also be forwarding this chain of emails to the Better Business Bureau to see if they want to pursue this.
