I began looking for employment and am a single mom so I saw this work from home job and thought it would be perfect. I was completely naive that there were job scams out there, I had absolutely no idea this was a thing, and I fell right into this scam I guess. When I did question certain things “she” seemed to have reasonable responses and I think I blindly had hope that I might actually have a good job that I wouldn’t struggle as much financially. I got an offer letter after about a week for the job which I signed and quit my current job because I thought I had employment with “Brilliance Steel”. They sent me a check for “supplies” which I deposited in my account and saw that it was available in my account and I paid for the equipment through their “vendor” and then a few days later the checks bounced and I was out a few thousand dollars. This scam took everything from me. My bank account was over drafted by $2700 and I now have my bank threatening me to take me to court for the negative balance but I’m still not working because I quit my other job because of this scam and there seems to be no help out there at all. I feel like I’ve tried all outlets. I had a police report filed from the incident and my bank said it isn’t actual fraud because I was the one who made the transactions even though it was under false pretenses. Not sure if there’s any help that I haven’t thought of but currently I’m just out a lot of money and my son and I are facing homelessness due to this scam.

They contacted me via text and then chatted on Zoom. It first started as below:
"Welcome to BRILLIANCE STEEL LTD.

I've been designated to brief you about the open positions and our corporate overview.I believe we can proceed with the job briefing and interview.. ?"

- It's pleasure meeting you, I would like to apprise you that we are sorry about our unseemly approach if this interview conducting method is unprofessional to you or if you are new to all this, I believe the world is always advancing so it is important to stay on top of things as change is inevitable.

- I want you to know that the interview will be conducted via text to enable me forward all of our conversation to the head dept to know if you're qualified for the position you're applying for...And it won't take much of your time...Okay..?

- I'm Mr. Shawn Knob, With involvement in several market sectors including engineering, property and financial services. I presently oversee full spectrum of all HR functions, both operations and strategic tasks. Some of my key functions include organizational change management, talent acquisition and development, compensation & benefits, as well as performance management, just to name a few. May I know your full names and where you are located (City, State)?

- Next is the briefing about the open positions and our corporate overview, I advise you to read closely.

- This will strictly be a remote position until the branch is commissioned. The working hours are flexible and you can choose to work from anywhere of your choice. The pay is $30.00 per hour during working hours and $25.00 per hour during training hours, you will be getting your payment weekly or bi-weekly via check or direct deposit while working 30 to 40 hours weekly (6 - 8 hours daily). If you are employed, you are going to be working as a full-time employee and not an independent contractor. NOTE: You can also continue working from home even after the office is ready.. I believe this is clear ?

- You are being interviewed for the position of Online Chat/Administrative Assistant/Data Entry Candidate. Administrative Assistant/Data Entry Candidate Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities:

* deal directly with customers either by telephone, electronically or face to face

* respond promptly to customer inquiries

* handle and resolve customer complaints

* obtain and evaluate all relevant information to handle product and service inquiries

* organize workflow to meet customer timeframes

* direct requests and unresolved issues to the designated resource

* record details of inquiries, comments and complaints

* record details of actions taken

* prepare and distribute customer activity reports

* maintain customer databases

* manage administration

* communicate and coordinate with internal departments

* follow up on customer interactions

* provide feedback on the efficiency of the customer service process
Assignments will be sent to you via e-mail or IM and you will report directly to your immediate supervisor. NOTE: You will be trained on it. Okay?

12. How would you like to be Paid ? Weekly Or Bi-Weekly?
13. What means of payment do you prefer ? Direct deposit , Check , Wire Transfer?
14. What Bank Do you Operate with to see if it tallies with the company's official salary payment?
15. We’ve to know so I’ll confirm if it tallies with the company salary account ?
16. Do you own a Credit card ?..If “YES” kindly indicate the name of the financial institution that issued your Credit card and your Credit line ?

I pushed back and shared a link from this website, after which they blocked me and kept declining my calls.

Please Note this is a remote job. Reply with (YES I AM) once you get this so an interview can be scheduled. Thank you! ********* This is so frustrating as I have been trying to job search. So not only do I have to search for jobs, now I have to search to see if anyone interested is a scammer. I can't tell what is a real job and what isn't anymore. I was contacted by phone to download “SIGNAL” app for an interview. We did the interview process and then I was hired almost two hours later. I was told that I would be issued a check for office supplies and am to purchase equipment and accounting software.

The following morning I was sent new hire paperwork and was told that the check would be sent the following day to be deposited into my account.
I would then order the equipment from their specific vendor. I knew this was a scam. It was confirmed when typing in the interviewers name with the word “scam” next to it.
