I am a retired person who normally gets plenty of scam calls daily,, but I was curious because this scam was so intricate. First, the caller kept on repeating He was from the Brinks Delivery Company. The caller chose a Hispanic name, "Mike Martinez" probably since this area in CA is highly Hispanic. I am not. The caller had a light New York accent. He said I had won 2.5 million dollars from the American Dream. He gave the phone number 202-869-0868 as a call back number and a 5-didget numeric code to identify me. He had a woman I could barely hear try to talk me into believing it was legit (probably his wife). He had her transfer the call back to him. Then he asked me if I was comfortable filling out a 1099 tax form and paying in advance of the check drop off a check for $499.00 to a federal building in Silver Springs, FL. I don't believe he actually expected me to mail it as he wanted a day before turn around. I asked if he'd mind a policeman waiting for him for the Delivery and he said sure and he'd deliver even during the weekend. Since by then I did not believe he would ever show, I did listen to any more of this trash. Of course, I never believed any legit business or contest asks for money before giving you a check. Today is 5/25/2021. They will probably ditch their phone soon. Hope they get caught. I am offended they tried to target me.
