A young man showed up at our home in a Brinks vehicle; he was just sitting in the vehicle. I noticed him when I walked out to go to work. I asked him if I could help him and he told me that he was there to do an upgrade to our security equipment. I told him that we did not have Brinks but had ADT. He said Brinks had bought out ADT and they needed to do an upgrade to our system for that reason. I specifically asked him if there was a charge for that and he told me that there was no charge - that was part of the service. I told him that we had never been contacted by ADT stating that Brinks was now our provider. He came in and changed out our equipment. I had left but my husband was in the house. My husband has a great deal of memory issues and does not remember a lot of things after being told. If my husband signed anything, he does not remember it. There was never anything left at our home that my husband had signed. We assumed we were protected by the security system that was installed. On the morning of 12/23/2022, my son walked out the front door (not realizing the alarm had been set) and the alarm did not go off. I then called the telephone number I had for ADT and told them that the alarm system was not working. Brenda from ADT came out to repair. When she got here and looked at the panel, she told me that the equipment was not set up correctly for the alarm and it was not ADT equipment. Brinks had replaced it with their equipment. We were paying ADT monthly and still are paying them, in addition to a monthly fee for Brinks. We told Brenda that we had never authorized Brinks and she needed to put the ADT equipment back. We had been happy with ADT. I have called a number of times to Brinks and Skyline Security (who put the equipment in) and told them they need to pick up their equipment and to stop charging our our checking account. We feel that they are targeting the elderly and we happen to fit that bill. My husband is 83 and I am 70. This is elder abuse and it needs to stop. They have not cooperated with any of our requests. They have charged our account a total of $189.91 to date and we had to pay ADT $59 to reinstall the ADT equipment. The gentlemen who came to our home intentionally lied to me in stating that Brinks had bought out ADT and that he was here to do an upgrade. We never would have allowed him in our home. Something needs to be done about Skyline Security and Brinks and put a stop to this. We are on a limited income and do not have the money to continue to pay these charges. Skyline Security and Brinks owes a refund to us of $248.91. I am concerned they will hit our bank account again within the next few days for $63.96. What can we do?

I signed a 3 year contract with Protect America in 2011 Brinks bought that company with no notification to the customers. It should've ended in 2013. Brinks kept taking money out of my account. I called and they claim in 2018, I signed a renewal until 2022. I did NO such thing! The contract they sent me has an auto fill version of my name..with a mistake in it. They will not bend in insisting I owe them untill 2022. They told me to get a police report, and THEY would determine if it was fraudulent. Right..how do you think that's going to turn out? Total robbery.
