Yesterday, 2/14/2017, I answered the phone. A woman identified herself as Brooke. She then said "Can you hear me." Instinctively I almost said yes. I think I got the ye sound out, and that was all. In an instant I remembered I heard about the scam so I hung up. Because I did not say yes, and I hung up, it did not concern me. This afternoon my phone rang -- the same number. This time I did not answer it. A few minutes later, the phone rang again. I did not answer it. For the third time, the phone rang again, all in the space of less than 10 minutes. The only way I could think of to get this person to stop calling me was to answer the phone so I did. it was Brooke again. She said, "hi, this is Brook calling from a recording. Can you hear me?" Immediately, I said in a stern voice "no, bye, and hung up."
I hope this will be the end of it. I am reporting it because I was not aware that they will keep calling. The only reason I can think of that "Brooke" did not stop is perhaps they think someone else in my house would answer the phone and do what I almost did, and that was to say yes. . If at first Brook did not succeed, she tried again.
Her voice came in loud and clear, and she wastged no time asking if I could hear her, tells me that it is only natural for anybody to say yes. That may be the MO. She did not waste any time asking me that question...maybe it would give me time to think. Her voice was loud and clear so naturally the person targeted would instinctively say yes. I knew abut the same and even I almost said yes. I believe that is their MO.

Received a phone call with a threat of a lawsuit being filed against me unless I paid $2,000. The name of "Brook" was left on the answering machine.
