“The balance of the funds on the check is meant to cover the cost of shipment for the item bought from you alongside my other properties bought within the state including tax and insurance plus the movers fee which I already explained to you in our previous email. You can go over them again and you get a better understanding. Please take the check down to your bank to have it deposit and let me know when you deposit the check, thanks”.
Instead of depositing the check, I cashed it. He wanted me to keep $300.00 for the product and send a Postal money order for $2,200.00 to an address in Kentucky. I insured them for the entire value. I was very vulnerable as my wife was slowly passing away and did right in the middle of this. However, I was informed that this sounded like a scam so I went to the post office and tracked the package and it was still in Portland, OR. So the Post Master helped me make out the retraction form to return it to me. The next couple days I tracked it and it had been mailed to the scammers. Wasn’t diverted at all! Then 3 days after it arrived at their address, the Post Office text me saying they were not “able” to divert the package. The Post Office it originated from said they really dropped the ball on this one!! And, post master said they didn’t insure money orders, but they did for $61.00. So I’m out $2,261.00 because the good old PO isn’t standing behind their screwup! Beware of ANY transaction that is not in person and involves sending money back to buyer!!!!! The
