Was contacted by someone over Reddit. Began texting me asking how he could help. Said he was a philanthropist and cell phone had a Chicago area code. Wanted to help but I said I didn't need it. Then asked if I would deposit a check from his company "buch construction" and send funds in his name to a charity. Dollar amounts changed as did different names. None of this makes sense as to why the person who called himself "Chris" can't do it himself. So I refused and never deposited the check. I suspect once deposited it would be a forged check which was takes a few days to figure out and he will have my bank info. No matter how desperate you are for money no one in this life gives it away for free without a catch or personal acknowledgment. Various dollar amounts. No specific charity. A rush for me to deposit a check.
