After traveling in California over spring break, I received the text message below. Thinking that was a legitimate fee, I clicked on the link, entered information (including my driver's license number), and"paid" the fee. However, I got a screen saying that the payment could not be processed and so went back later in the evening to try again. My husband said that he had already paid the toll for California a couple of weeks ago and that it was $9-something.When I googled the text of the message, a site came up saying this was a scam.

Here is the text of the message I received:

California toll services: We've noticed an outstanding balance of$11.69 on your record. To prevent a late fee of $50.00, please visit https://ncsunspasstollservices.com to settle your invoice.
