He was purchasing my cabin cruiser for $55,000.00. The text was from a California phone number. When questioned about this he said he was moving to Morgantown WV. He had me send pictures of the boat and said he would arrange for a carrier to transport the boat to Morgantown. He said he would send the cashier check for $55,000.00 by priority mail which he did. However the cashier check I received was made out for $61,950.00. The cashier check looked real except the paper it was on was like copying paper. He said his secretary made a mistake and added the transport money to my payoff. He said to deposit the money to my bank account and cash it for the $55,000.00. He would let me know how to send the rest of the money to the transport carrier. I told him that wasn’t going to happen as the interaction had all the makings of a scam. I told him he should be ashamed of himself and I would pray for him to have a change of heart. That was the last I heard from him. I still have the cashier check as a souvenir. I called the Huntington Bank that supposedly the cashier check was from. They told me it was a scam which I already knew. I also called the State Police and the U.S. Postal Inspector about the scam. However they said since I didn’t lose any money it wasn’t a crime. The corporal said I saved myself a big headache which I am sure I did.
