Received sms text from what read Energy Upgrade CA. Stating during a flex alert use less energy from 4-9 pm. The text had a stop to unsubscribe, Except what was not noticed until later after responding stop to unsubscribe, the Stop was in lower case letters. Also the area code was in Ohio, not California. After texting back stop, did not receive any unsubscribe notification.

That is when realizing it was a scam text. Looking online that the number was reported to be spam, fraud.

Because it had the words California Energy, Flex Alert thought it to be real.

I've received a lot of calls from this scammer. The call starts with a recorded message talking about Senate Bill 1 that supposedly offers home owners grants to make their homes more energy efficient. The message also says that there's a limited amount of time to claim the funds, so customers should act quickly. Eventually you're connected with a person who asks questions about your utility bills and how you can save money by adding solar panels, weather proofing, etc. They ask for your address, phone number, amount paid each month and try to schedule an in-home assessment. After receiving about a dozen calls in two weeks I asked the operator for their website. The first time I asked they hung up. I told another operator that I knew this was a scam and she seemed as if she had no idea what I was talking about. I asked how a company that dealt with the state government didn't have a website. She said that as far she knew the company was legitimate and got a bit defensive. So, it's possible that some of the people calling have been duped, as well.

They called on 4/23 at 1.42pm They were very rude and pushy.

they didn't want to give their name, nor phone number. After I asked several times they said it's

California Energy. They wanted to check whether I qualify for free solar and they had my name

and the owner's name and the address. They wanted to know how much my last DWP bill was.

When I pressured them to give me their phone number to give it to the owner, they hung up.

On my phone the above phone number and "tracking" # V42316435900259 came up.
