I was called about a loan that I took out May 18, 2015 and never paid back. They had ALL of my information and even said my entire social over and over again out loud - my bank doesn't even require that. I was so upset as they said I had been avoiding this since then and if I didn't pay they would take me to court and put it on my credit report. I told them that I didn't think that sounded like me and wanted proof. 4 people argued with me that I didn't need proof, that I knew what I had done. They had banking account numbers and seemed legit. After hours of fighting with these people they "settled" it for 418. I've already reported to my credit card company that it was fraud. They continue to call me even though the debt "is paid in full" - they've harassed and bullied me to no end.
