I was not aware of this scam and because the sender signed it specifically with the name of my supervisor/employer, I was not alarmed by the request. In hindsight I should have questioned the validity of the sender, request and delivery.
“Hello ___, I’m in a conference meeting right now, can’t talk on phone but let me know if you get my text
I'm really tied up right now, I can’t pick calls or receive, I need you to help me get something done urgently, let me know if you can
I need you to help me purchase EBay gift card from any store close to you, I need to get it sent to someone Asap, let me know if you can do this
.Ok good. I want you to purchase 2 pieces of eBay Gifts cards of $100 face value each, totaling $200

I sent copies of the receipt so that concerns me but no personal information was shared, to my knowledge.
I contacted the GC company, EBay, and the vendor from where I purchased the cards, but due the cards being immediately redeemed they would not issue a refund.
I feel that a warning should be placed and clearly, easily visible at these gift card stations and on websites to warn consumers of these fraudulent scams.
