Sent me credentials on the dealership ship, tax license, etc so I would feel confident it was legitimate business. I called a few other businesses around there to confirm dealership was there and they said that yes, HL motors has been there for many years. Small used car dealership. I told Mike Gibbs that I was going to send an inspector to inspect the impala on my behalf and said not a problem just have inspector call him to set up appointment. He did tell me in order to hold the car for me that they require half down of purchase price but never was really pushy about the money which led me to believe him even more.
He sent me wire transfer information on where to send money (JPMorgan Chase bank in Columbus Oh.) and so I did.
Inspector went out to the dealership and said it was a scam. Never heard from Mike Gibbs again.
I have reported it to the Cedar Bluff police department and informed me that they were well aware of this scam and that many other people had fallen victim to it already. We need to do all we can to get this person so hopefully we can get our money back and keep him from scamming others.
